Summary:
The article was about how far homosexual rights have come.  It talked about how before, being gay was a crime because it was "disgusting" to others, but now, people are starting to take a humanitarian view on homosexuality.  It discussed the politics of disgust and politics of humanity.

Conclusion:
I learned a lot from this article. It gave me some useful information for my paper. It was helpful in that it showed how far we have come in giving homosexuals more rights.

Pathology of the Ex-Gay Movement

Research question: Should gays and lesbians be allowed to get married?

PIETRZYK, MARK E. "Pathology of the Ex-Gay Movement." The Gay & Lesbian Review Worldwide 7.3 (2000): 32. InfoTrac Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Issues Collection. Web. 10 Nov. 2011.

Summary:

This article talks about the religious people who made advertisements for "hope and healing" for gays, and talking about "es-gays" who have seen the error of their ways.  But further research into these "ex-gays" shows that they really aren't "cured" at all, and are still exhibiting homosexual behavior. It contains a list of things that would make someone prone to homosexuality, according to the religious leaders, and how outrageous this list is.

Conclusion:

The article was somewhat useful for my topic.  It didn't really talk about marriage specifically, but it talked about other rights they have.

Can science explain gender nonconformity?

Research question: Should gays and lesbians be allowed to get married?

Rosario, Vernon. "Can science explain gender nonconformity?" The Gay & Lesbian Review Worldwide 13.3 (2006): 39+.InfoTrac Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Issues Collection. Web. 10 Nov. 2011.

Summary:

This article talks about homosexuality and nature vs. nurture.  It discusses aspects of homosexuality that seem to be part of our nature, and the differences between a homosexual's brain and neurology compared to a heterosexual's. It then talks about the effects that nurture can have, and how growing up in certain environments can lead a person one way or the other.

Conclusion:

While this was interesting, it didn't exactly apply to my research question. It was a little helpful though, because if it were a proven fact that being a homosexual is genetic and not a choice, then homosexuals would have to be allowed to get married.

Ending marriage discrimination: America in a civil rights moment

Research question: Should gays and lesbians be allowed to get married?

Wolfson, Evan. "Ending marriage discrimination: America in a civil rights moment." SIECUS Report 33.1 (2005): 13+. InfoTrac Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Issues Collection. Web. 10 Nov. 2011.

Summary:

This article is about ending discrimination in marriage.  The author talks about how "gay marriage" is offensive because it implies that gays and lesbians are different from "normal" people. It talks about how this is another civil rights movement, and is similar to the Brown vs. Board of Education case and it's aftermath. The author says there is no reason, civilly, that gays and lesbians should not be allowed to get married.

Conclusion:

The article and the author agree with my opinions so far.  It says that gays and lesbians should have the same rights as heterosexuals and I think that is how it should be as well.
